Life after many years of teaching high school art has finally meant time for Karen to pursue her own art. She learned how to sew on her mother’s tiny Singer sewing machine at a young age and followed it up with textile studies and painting at university in the Education program. Karen has gone back to her life long love of fibres and textiles. She is currently exploring the many creative and beautiful ways they can be manipulated. Collage and photography passions take their place in the mix both on paper and fabric. Nature in all its glory is Karen’s main inspiration; the colours, textures and forms are continually revealing themselves as opportunities for ever more creative endeavours.
