Della Terra Designs

Dawn’s passion for textiles was nurtured as a graduate of Ryerson’s Fashion Design program. A lengthy hiatus ended in 2007 when she enrolled as a student in Extended Studies – Textiles at the University of the Fraser Valley.

She began experimenting with hand weaving and surface design techniques. In April 2012, Dawn presented her graduate collection under the title Della Terra Designs, translated from Italian as ‘of the earth.’ Her textiles are earth inspired and sourced, influenced by her association with VanDusen Botanical Garden in Vancouver.

Dawn enjoys exploring ways to imitate the textures and patterns of nature to create unexpected textiles for garments, scarves and shawls. Her work has been shown in gallery exhibitions and wearable art shows throughout the Lower Mainland and Sunshine Coast, BC; as well as in Santa Fe, NM and Jeon-ju, South Korea.
